Our Process

A clear, structured website project process for Calgary businesses that want more than a nice-looking site. We guide you from discovery and strategy through design, development, QA, launch and long-term support — with defined checkpoints, clear roles and a focus on business results.

A successful website project is not just a design exercise. It is a business process: understanding your goals, mapping the right user journey, building the right technical foundation, testing the details, launching cleanly and improving after the site goes live.

Our web development process is built for Calgary businesses that want a custom website workflow, not a rushed WordPress template. We work through discovery, strategy, design, development, QA, launch and support so every stakeholder knows what is happening, what is expected and how each decision connects to leads, conversions, speed, scalability and ROI.

We do not build WordPress websites. We build custom-built revenue systems for businesses that need stronger performance, cleaner architecture and room to grow.

A Website Process Built Around Business Outcomes

Most website projects go wrong for the same reason: the team jumps into design before they understand the business. That creates pretty pages with weak structure, unclear messaging, slow performance and forms that do not convert. Our process starts with the business result. Are you trying to generate more qualified leads? Sell online? Replace a slow website? Build a custom platform? Improve SEO visibility? Support a growing sales team? The answer shapes the project plan, the technology, the content structure and the launch checklist. We use a structured agency process page for a reason: clients should know what happens next. No mystery. No vague "we’re working on it." No handoff into a black box.

What makes our workflow different

We combine strategy, copy structure, UX, visual design, custom development and post-launch support inside one workflow. Instead of forcing your business into a template, we define the system around the way your customers actually search, compare, decide and contact you. The result is a cleaner process and a stronger final product: faster pages, clearer messaging, better conversion paths and a technical foundation that can scale.

What you can expect before the project starts

Before we begin, you will know the project scope, sitemap direction, key pages, timeline, decision points, required content, technical requirements and launch responsibilities. For larger projects, we may recommend a paid discovery or architecture phase before full production begins.

Phase 1 — Discovery

Discovery is where we understand the business behind the website. This is not a casual intro call. It is where we identify what the website needs to accomplish and what would make the project successful.

We look at your current site, traffic sources, customer types, competitors, sales process, forms, offers, services, content gaps, technical limitations and internal workflows.

What we learn

  • Who your best customers are
  • Which services or products matter most
  • What currently blocks conversions
  • What pages your website needs
  • What integrations are required
  • What content already exists
  • What must be created from scratch
  • What success should look like after launch

Your role

Your role is to bring business context. We need to understand your customers, sales process, offers, objections, margins and priorities. You do not need to know how to structure a website — that is our job.

Checkpoint

At the end of discovery, we confirm project goals, audience priorities, website scope, technical needs and next steps. This becomes the foundation for strategy.

Phase 2 — Strategy

Strategy turns discovery into a clear website plan. This is where we decide what the website should say, how it should be structured and how users should move from first visit to inquiry.

A strong strategy phase prevents expensive changes later. It also makes design and development faster because the team is not guessing.

Sitemap, user flows and conversion paths

We map the core pages and the purpose of each page. For a service business, this might include a homepage, service pages, industry pages, location pages, about pages, pricing and contact. For a custom platform, this may include product flows, dashboards, onboarding steps, account logic or admin areas. We also define the conversion path: what users should read first, what proof they need, what questions must be answered and where CTA forms should appear.

Technical direction

We confirm whether the project needs a marketing website, custom backend, CRM integration, API connections, booking flow, eCommerce logic, user accounts, automation or long-term scalability planning. For most custom builds, our preferred stack is React for the frontend and Laravel for backend/API logic. This gives us more control over performance, structure and future features than plugin-heavy website setups.

Checkpoint

At the end of strategy, you approve the sitemap, page priorities, conversion flow, technical direction and project roadmap.

Have a website idea but not a clear plan yet?

Start with discovery. We will help you clarify scope, pages, features, integrations and the right development path before you invest in design or code.

Phase 3 — UX and Visual Design

Design begins after the strategy is clear. We do not start with decoration. We start with structure: what the user needs to see, what they need to understand and what action they should take.

The goal is not just to make the site look premium. The goal is to make the business easier to trust, easier to understand and easier to contact.

Wireframes before visuals

Wireframes show the layout and content hierarchy before full design polish. This lets us align on page flow, sections, CTAs, forms, proof blocks and navigation before spending time on final visual details. For key pages, wireframes may include: Hero structure, Service sections, Trust blocks, FAQ placement, Form placement, Internal link modules, Conversion sections, Mobile-first layout decisions.

Design that supports action

The visual system should make the website feel credible, fast and intentional. We use hierarchy, spacing, contrast, typography, imagery and motion to guide attention toward the right decisions. For this studio’s own site direction, the visual system should feel premium and editorial: warm ivory backgrounds, deep graphite text, subtle gold or bronze accents, light card depth and refined motion — not dark, neon or generic SaaS styling.

Checkpoint

At the end of design, you approve the key page layouts, visual direction, responsive approach and design system before development begins.

Phase 4 — Custom Development

Development is where the approved design becomes a fast, stable and scalable website. This is where our approach differs from generic web agencies.

We do not take a theme, install plugins and hope everything works together. We build the website as a custom system with clean frontend components, backend logic where needed and a structure that can support SEO, analytics, conversion tracking and future growth.

React frontend

React gives us a modern frontend structure with reusable components, fast interactions and flexibility for custom interfaces. It is especially useful for websites that need dynamic sections, advanced forms, dashboards, calculators, product logic or future application features.

Laravel backend

Laravel gives the project a reliable backend foundation for admin panels, APIs, form handling, integrations, business logic, user management, content workflows and custom data structures.

Integrations, analytics and performance

Depending on the project, development may include: CRM integrations, Form routing, Booking or quote request flows, Payment or eCommerce logic, Google Analytics events, Conversion tracking, Technical SEO setup, Schema markup, Core Web Vitals optimization, Accessibility considerations, Security and privacy basics. Every key link and CTA should be trackable so you can understand what users click, where leads come from and which pages support conversion.

Phase 5 — QA and Pre-Launch Testing

QA is where we slow down before launch so the website can go live cleanly. This phase protects the user experience, the technical setup and your brand reputation.

We test pages, layouts, forms, navigation, mobile behaviour, integrations, tracking and performance before launch.

Browser, device and speed testing

We check the site across modern browsers and screen sizes. The mobile experience receives special attention because many local service searches and referral visits happen on phones. We also review performance so the site feels fast and stable. Speed matters for users, SEO and conversion.

Forms, tracking and content review

Forms are tested carefully because they are often the most important conversion point on the site. We confirm that submissions go to the right destination, notifications work, required fields behave properly and thank-you states are clear. We also review tracking events for major actions such as CTA clicks, phone clicks, form submissions and important internal navigation.

Checkpoint

Before launch, you receive a final review window. We confirm approved pages, forms, SEO basics, analytics, redirects if needed and launch timing.

Already have a website that needs a cleaner launch or rebuild?

We can audit your current website, identify weak points and map a safer redesign process before touching your live site.

Phase 6 — Launch

Launch is managed as a controlled deployment, not a last-minute upload. We prepare the technical checklist, confirm access, review DNS or hosting requirements and move the website live with attention to SEO, tracking and uptime.

Deployment plan

The launch plan depends on the project. A new website launch is usually simpler. A redesign or migration requires more care because URLs, rankings, forms, analytics and redirects may be involved. For more complex projects, launch may happen in stages: staging review, soft launch, production launch and post-launch validation.

SEO and analytics checks

During launch, we confirm essentials such as: Page titles and meta descriptions, Indexing settings, Schema markup, Redirects where needed, Sitemap availability, Analytics and conversion tracking, Form submissions, Main navigation and CTAs.

Post-launch monitoring

After launch, we monitor key functionality and resolve launch-related issues quickly. The first days after launch are important because they reveal real user behaviour, form submissions, tracking accuracy and any missed edge cases.

Phase 7 — Support and Improvement

A website should not be treated as finished forever on launch day. Once real users interact with it, there are opportunities to improve content, conversion paths, SEO performance, page speed and lead quality.

Support can be light or ongoing depending on your business needs.

Maintenance

Maintenance may include hosting support, backups, security updates, uptime monitoring, technical fixes, content changes, performance improvements and small feature updates.

Conversion improvements

Once the site is live, we can review analytics and user behaviour to improve: CTA placement, Form completion, Service page clarity, Pricing page flow, Internal linking, Landing page performance, Lead quality.

Scaling the system

Because the site is custom-built, it can grow into more than a marketing website. Future phases may include CRM integrations, dashboards, customer portals, eCommerce logic, booking systems, automation workflows or a full SaaS-style platform. For larger ideas, we route clients into /ventures, where the process expands into architecture, MVP planning and scalable product development.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does your website project process work?

Our process moves through discovery, strategy, UX and visual design, custom development, QA, launch and ongoing support. Each phase has a clear purpose, checkpoint and approval step so you know what is happening and what decisions are needed.

What happens during discovery?

Discovery is where we learn about your business goals, customers, services, competitors, current website, sales process and technical needs. The goal is to define what the website must accomplish before we plan pages, design layouts or write code.

Do you design first or plan the strategy first?

We plan strategy first. Starting with design too early often leads to attractive pages with weak conversion logic. We define sitemap, user flow, messaging priorities and technical direction before visual design begins.

What technology do you use?

Our custom website workflow is built around React for the frontend and Laravel for backend/API development. This gives us more control over speed, scalability, integrations and long-term maintainability than a plugin-heavy WordPress setup.

What will we need to provide during the project?

You will usually provide business context, service details, brand assets, access to your existing website or tools, stakeholder feedback and final approvals. We guide the structure, design, development and launch process.

How many checkpoints are there?

Most projects include checkpoints after discovery, strategy, design, development, QA and launch. Larger projects may include additional architecture, prototype or sprint review checkpoints.

Do you support the website after launch?

Yes. Support can include hosting, maintenance, backups, uptime monitoring, content updates, technical improvements, conversion optimization and future feature development.

Can this process work for startups or custom platforms?

Yes, but the workflow becomes more technical. For marketplaces, SaaS products or complex eCommerce systems, we usually begin with deeper discovery and architecture before design and development. Those projects are a better fit for /ventures/.
